Preparing For A Visit

Your first visit begins with an in-depth assessment of your condition and your initial treatment. During the assessment we may ask you about some things that you might not think are connected to your chief complaint, for example, thoughts and emotions, sleeping patterns, and eating habits.

We ask that you arrive at our office at least twenty minutes prior to your scheduled appointment so that we can ensure all medicine intake forms. This enables us understand your current symptoms and past history.

  • Don't eat a large meal prior to your visit
  • Wear loose fitting clothes, or we will provide coverings to insure your privacy
  • Bring a list of medications you are taking
  • Bring any relevant reports of imaging studies

Does My Insurance Cover Acupuncture?

We recommend that you call the member number on the back of your insurance card and ask if you have "out of network benefits for acupuncture". If you do have coverage the insurance company will tell you exactly what those benefits are. Coverage for acupuncture is generally for pain management (i.e. back pain, joint pain and headaches) along with nausea from pregnancy or chemotherapy. They will not cover treatment for weight control, cosmetic or smoking cessation.
